Trouble getting into your favorite skinny pants? Well, we understand the frustration. Often times we lose motivation to workout because it’s terrifying to go for complex exercises like squats, burpees and alike because they promise slender legs. Secondly, because these exercises can damage the knees in more than one way if not done under expert supervision. But what if we tell you that you can have toned thighs by just lying down on your mat? Yes, here we bring to you a series of easy exercises that you can do even without having to stand up (with the exception of one).

1. Alternate Leg Raises

Target: Target your lower abs and hip muscles with one of the simplest strength moves out there.

How To Do It?

  1. Lie down on your back and raise your legs up at around 90 degrees.
  2. Now keeping them straight, start bending your knees one by one and make sure your feet do not touch the floor.
  3. Repeat 20 times.
  4. Bring your legs down on the floor. Relax.

2. Back Leg Raise

Target: This exercise strengthens your hip muscles and lower back.

How To Do It?

  1. Lie on your chest with your hands by your side.
  2. Raise your chin and raise your legs from your knees.
  3. Bring your legs towards your hips and take them back.
  4. Make sure your feet do not touch the floor and keep your legs together. Repeat 15 times.

3. Seashells Exercise

Target: It’s a low-impact, leg-strengthening workout that targets a forgotten muscle group, the hip abductors,

How To Do It?

  1. Lie in the same manner as ballet exercise.
  2. Now bend your knees and start opening and closing your left knee.
  3. While performing this, your legs will look like a seashell.
  4. Do it 10-15 times. Repeat with the other side.

You need legs that are strong enough to literally carry you through life. Everything from walking up a flight of stairs to lifting your heavy laundry bag is easier when you can put some strong leg muscle behind it. Luckily, effective leg exercises don’t have to be complicated and they don’t even require a gym membership.
