At 5 pm IST, India saw decibel levels going up really high. This was because, heeding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call, people from all walks of life, across cities came on their balconies and gardens to bang plates – ostensibly a gesture to show solidarity and express gratitude to the numerous doctors, nurses, health workers and essential services providers who have been working tirelessly to help people combat the dreaded coronavirus impact.
Amidst the anticipation of a country wide lockdown, PM Narendra Modi announced a Janta Curfew to spread awareness about social distancing – the only way to prevent the spread of the virus. However, he also requested people to make some noise to show support to those on the field. While most buildings across urban India took it seriously, with people coming out in full force and beating plates, blowing conch shells and cymbals, or merely by clapping hands, Bollywood wasn’t far behind.
From the first family of Bollywood – the Bachchans to young stars like Kartik Aaryan and others like Neha Dhupia, Akshay Kumar etc, they either stood on their balcony or on their terraces to collectively make some noise. Here are a few videos!
Kartik Aaryan Kartik Aaryan who made a fun ‘Punchnnama’ style video to create awareness about social distancing, was seen banging his thaali!
Lolo was clapping her hands furiously in appreciation of the health workers.
Varun Dhwan joined his entire family in spreading the message.
Shah Rukh Khan
King Khan did his part too. Not only did the sueprstar release a few videos before the janta curfew, explaining the importance of social distancing, he also took part in the same.
Deepika, always a socially conscious citizen, did her bit too for the ‘heroes’.
This is a family that believes in sticking together during a crisis. Aishwarya, Abhishek, Amitabh and even little Aaradhya took part in the curfew.
Esha Deol, whose mother Hema Malini, is a politician, was not to be left behind either.
