LUCKNOW: Opposition parties attacked the UP government for its failure on the law and order front in wake of the Unnao gang rape victim case. While Congress national general secretary said that BJP must stop lying about the law and order situation in UP, former chief minister and Samajwadi party chief Akhilesh Yadav said that the BJP ministers must take moral responsibility of the incident and resign from their post.
Reacting sharply from her twitter handle, Priyanka said: “kal desh ke greh mantri aur Uttar Pradesh ke mukhya mantri ne saaf saaf jhoot bola ki UP ki kanoon vyavastha achchi ho chuki hai. har roz aisi ghatnayon ko daikhkar man mein rosh hota hai. BJP netayon ko bhi ab farzi prachar se bahar nikalna hoga.”

(Country’s home minister and UP’s chief minister are lying about the law and order situation in the state by saying that everything was fine. Incidents like the one in Unnao fill me with anger. The BJP leaders must stop this fake campaign).
Former CM Akhilesh Yadav said: “Unnao ki dushkarm pidita ko zinda jalaye jane ke dussahas ki naitik zimmedari lete hue Pradesh ki bhajapa Sarkar ka samuhik istefa hona chahiye.” (The BJP ministers must take moral responsibility of the audacity displayed by the accused persons in the unnao incident and resign from their positions).

Yadav also urged the judiciary to take cognizance of the matter due to its seriousness and direct for the victim’s treatment and safety. Speaking outside the Rajya Sabha, senior Samajawadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav demanded imposition of president’s rule in Uttar Pradesh in wake of the rising crime graph in state. “There is no rule of law in Uttar Pradesh. Women and girls do not feel safe in the state. President’s rule must be imposed in the state in public interest,” he said.
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal also reacted to the incident. “It’s very unfortunate that so many incidents of crimes against women are happening in country. All governments will have to rise above politics and work together for safety of women. The incident of the Unnao rape victim being burnt alive is extremely unfortunate,” he said.
Aam Aadmi Party official spokesperson Sanjay Singh said, “What is Unnao’s image after this incident? The government on the other hand is only shielding people like Chinmayanand and Kuldeep Sengar. Crime data is being kept under wraps. This seems like an attempt by the government to hide its failures. At least when data is before us, we can take some action. By hiding data will crimes stop? We should hang our heads in shame.”
